Sheffield Wednesday impressed new boss Paul Sturrock as they ended a run of five league games without a win by comfortably defeating Wrexham 3-0 at The Racecourse Ground.
More than 2,000 Owls supporters followed the side to North Wales and enjoyed a great day's entertainment.
Wednesday quickly dominated a jaded Wrexham outfit that looked tired after their midweek Carling Cup defeat at the hands of Sheffield United.
The first goal came midway through the first half with Wrexham's defence being caught off guard. Goalkeeper, Matt Baker parried John Paul McGovern's shot from Chris Brunt's cross, but the rebound was snapped up by Steven MacLean who rammed the ball home from two yards.
Another goal nearly followed when the hard working Adam Proudlock beat Shaun Pejic on the left and crossed but McLean was unable to get a killer touch.
Brunt was causing havoc and grabbed another goal for the Owls with a 15-yard shot that cleared the bar, before Proudlock tried another effort that flew just past the post.
Brunt did add the second goal before the hour with a superb 20-yard free kick that swerved into the top right-hand corner beyond Baker's reach.
Proudlock netted but was ruled offside and when Brunt powered a free kick into the goalmouth, McGovern's was then blocked.
Proudlock finally got his goal just after the hour when Baker did well to beat out Lewis McMahon's shot but the rebound fell short, and Proudlock lashed it home.
