Izale McLeod snatched a last-ditch equaliser to rob Wednesday's new boss Paul Sturrock of his second win.
Wednesday looked set to claim the three points after John Paul McGovern snapped up his first goal to give Wednesday a second-half lead.
But McLeod poked in a close-range shot after keeper David Lucas parried an 88th minute shot from Alex Tapp.
Sturrock blasted his side after their midweek dismissal from the LDV Trophy at the hands of Chester.
Wednesday responded creating a string of chances but failed to cash in until McGovern tucked away a close-range shot after Chris Marsden chested the ball into his path after 64 minutes.
Wednesday were left counting the cost after they squandered their early opportunities.
Steve MacLean blew a glorious chance to give the home side the lead a minute before half-time when he hoisted his shot over from 15 yards after Chris Brunt's shot was blocked.
Brunt curled a 25-yard free-kick over the top and Paul Smith almost caught out Dons keeper David Martin with a cheeky 30 yarder.
Adam Proudlock smashed a shot over after Brunt headed down into his path and Proudlock was inches short of a scoring connection after John Paul McGovern whipped in a low cross. McGovern smashed another long-range effort but Martin dealt with it before MacLean's wayward effort.
Dons found chances few and far between but Wednesday keeper David Lucas had to smother at the feet of Wade Small and Gareth Edds was only a fraction away with a 25-yard free-kick.
Another Brunt cross was headed over by McGovern and Smith fired wide with a shot from 20 yards out.
But then McGovern gave Wednesday the lead leaving Dons searching for a reply that eluded them until the dying minutes.
