MID-SUMMER KNIGHT UPDATE

So far this summer Sheffield Wednesday have announced three new signings. David Burrows has signed a year-long contract after impressing Terry Yorath towards the end of last season. The Wednesday boss confirmed that Burrows will remain his first-choice left back despite the capture of Plymouth's Jon Beswetherick on a bosman three-year contract. The 25 year old defender was Yorath's first signing of the summer. "Jon is a smashing lad, a player we were watching for the best part of last season." said the manager.
The most high-profile signing has been that of Leon Knight on a one-year loan deal from Chelsea. The 19 year old striker had look set to re-join Huddersfield Town after netting 17 goals whilst on loan at the McAlpine last season. Knight opted for the first division and Sheffield Wednesday and admitted he was champing at the bit. "I was very impressed with the way Wednesday conducted themselves in negotiations" he said, "I want to play first team football and the first division will take me up another level, I just can't wait to get stuck into the new season.". Knight will miss the first two games of the season through suspension and is expected to make his debut at Nottingham Forest.
Don't expect Yorath to stop their though, plenty of names have been linked with Wednesday over the summer. Negotiations with Brentford's Llyod Owusu are said to be at an advanced stage, while the Owls continue to be linked with Mansfield's Chris Greenacre and Arsenal's Carlin Itonga. Another position which Terry Yorath is looking to strengthen is at the heart of the defence, with Danny Maddix set to leave Yorath will be desperate to sign Marlon Broomes on a permanent deal to partner promising youngster Leigh Bromby, however should that deal fall through speculation will be mounting on the Owls moving on Brentford's Ivar Ingamasson or Leeds' Danny Hay. Other players linked with a move to Hillsborough include, Scott Wilson (Rangers), Royce Browline (Unknown Club), Luke Wilkshire (Middlesborough), Paul Evans (Brentford) and Bojan Djordjic (Manchester United).
