Following the emphatic win against Wrexham, the 20-year-old was part of an unchanged defence which has only let in three goals in five games over the festive period.
Goals from Steve MacLean, Paul Heckingbottom and a brace from new kop darling Kenwyne Jones gave The Owls a fine 4-0 win over the Welshmen but it was the back four’s performance which again stood out.

Since Wood has returned from injury, perhaps it is no coincidence that Wednesday look more solid. “I would say that,” he jokes, “but seriously it is all down to the back four and not me but the team.
“The team is playing well and it is good luck on my part that I have come into the team now and now I want to carry that on.”
With Guy Branston looking increasingly surplus to requirements for Paul Sturrock, Wood thinks this is the perfect chance to cement his name on the first-team list for good.
He continued: “My confidence is up at the moment and I am happy to be playing but this isn’t just a slot for me to fill – I have to keep playing well and working hard to make the spot my own. It has been a weird season for me but now I am playing, I want to keep playing, get as many games under my belt as possible – I’m only young and I just want to get more experience.”
The youngster admits though that all the hard work that the players are putting in on and off the pitch is finally paying off.
He said: “Things have just clicked recently in training thanks to the work we have done with the defensive coach John Blackley, he’s come in and we just do coaching solely on the back four and the work is starting to show now. The new management team have been here for around three months or so and the results are showing the sort of hard work we are doing.”
