Sheffield Wednesday pre-season schedule continued with a win in scorching temperatures at Scunthorpe.
Wednesday included young Portuguese full-back Rafael Floro in a fairly strong line up although they did start the match without a recognised striker, instead looking to utilise the pace of Antonio, Helan and Jermaine Johnson in attacking situations.
Both sides missed chances in the first half but it was the visitors who finally took advantage as the game approached half-time when new signing Jeremy Helan took advantage of some hesitant defending to steal in and slot home.
Antonio, JJ and Helan were all replaced during the second half and the home side enjoyed good spells of possession without really testing Chris Kirkland. Miguel Llera could have doubled the Owls advantage but Dave Jones will be pleased with the clean sheet and the work out in trying conditions.
The squad will now fly out to Portugal for a week which takes in two matches as they continue to work towards the start of the Championship season, away at QPR on August 3rd.
