Will Wednesday do more business?

Do the Owls have more transfer activity to do as deadline approaches?

Sheffield Wednesday made their 7th signing of the transfer window on Wednesday when Callum Paterson joined on a permanent deal from Cardiff City. The Scotland international joins Elias Kachunga, Izzy Brown, Chey Dunkley, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Josh Windass and Korede Adedoyin as new first team faces at Hillsborough this season.

With the clock ticking towards the close of the transfer window it remains to be seen if the Owls have any more business to do. Paterson is likely to join as a forward player but the club could still be in the market for a target-man type ‘number 9’ striker. Wednesday have been linked with a move for West Brom striker Kenneth Zahore in this respect but the terms of any deal have proved to be a sticking point thus far.

It also remains to be seen whether there will be any more departures from the ranks at Hillsborough. Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has been an immensely popular player during his time at S6, rightly so due to the fact he was widely regarded as being among the top stoppers in the Championship and played a major role in helping Wednesday achieve consecutive top 6 finishes. However, he has clearly fallen out of favour under Garry Monk and is not likely to feature in the first team any time soon as things stand. The former Man City goalkeeper is thought to be among the highest earners at the club and if he is not in the plans of the manager then a move away may be the best option for all concerned.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on 5th October but an agreement is in place which allows Premier League clubs to trade with EFL teams until 16th October.
