Sheffield Wednesday announced on Monday through their official website, www.swfc.co.uk that season ticket sales had reached in excess of 10,000 for the forthcoming season.
As most Wednesday fans now know, the club has targeted a figure of 16,500 if they are to work to their proposed budget.
These current sales figures are certainly encouraging in terms of bettering last seasons total but with the 1st discount price deadline coming into play on Saturday it remains to be seen whether it will be possible to sell another 6,000 tickets, especially given the fact that only around 2,000 of the 2008/09 season tickets holders are yet to renew.
This however does not give the full picture in terms of those that are able to take full advantage of this first deadline as anyone who has been a season ticket holder in any of the previous 3 seasons is eligible for the full discount.
The final week of sales in the lead up to the first deadline in relation to discount price offers is traditionally said to be by far the most productive for most football club in terms of sales and so we are likely to have a clear picture of the figure that may be achieved by this time next week.
