Sheffield Wednesday have received a major boost going into the new year with the news that centre forward Connor Wickham is to stay with for club for a further month.
The Sunderland striker's current loan spell was due to come to an end after tomorrows home fixture against Blackpool but the new deal sees Wickham extend his stay until the 28th January.
The England under 21 star has been in prolific form with his equalising goal against Charlton on Sunday his 6th goal for the Owls in 8 appearances.
Rumours have recently linked the 20-year-old to a number of clubs at the top end of the Championship table and so to secure the services of the in form front man is a timely boost to the Owls bid to get out of trouble at the wrong end of the table.
