Owls likely to be in the market for a new manager soon
Following Steve Bruce's post-match comments after Sheffield Wednesday's pre-season victory at Lincoln City on Saturday it seems as though the Owls will soon be on the hunt for a new boss but what are the options?
If Bruce does make his way to Newcastle then Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri will need a suitable replacement. Bruce's experience and ability to gain promotion from the Championship was the reason he was the ideal choice just a few months ago.
With that in mind then many may point towards Chris Hughton. The former Brighton manager has previously enjoyed success with the Seagulls and at Newcastle prior to that and is highly regarded and respected.
Other out-of-work managers with plenty of experience include David Moyes, Aitor Karanka, Steve McLaren, Garry Monk and Gary Rowett.
During his 5 years at Hillsborough Chansiri has appointed 3 managers, all of whom had been out of work at the time. Should he look towards other clubs this time then the likes of the Cowley brothers at Lincoln and Daniel Stendel at local rivals Barnsley would be worth considering as they have enjoyed recent success playing attractive football, albeit at a lower level than the Championship.
