Sheffield Wednesday’s wide midfielder Ross Wallace has been rewarded for a fine start to his Hillsborough career by winning the Championship player of the month award for August/September.
The new look Owls got off to a steady start to the season under Portuguese head coach Carlos Carvalhal and Wallace provided assists and goals in the first month, helping the team to victory against Bristol on the opening day and scoring in a narrow defeat at Ipswich.
The start stalled somewhat towards the end of August but a change of formation has seen an upsurge in results and has brought the best out of Wallace in a more orthodox position wide on the right of a midfield 4.
The former Burnley winger has created plenty of chances from open play and set-pieces as the Owls have moved to within 3 points of 3rd place in the Championship.
The PFA Fans Player of the Month Award is voted for by supporters on the Sky Sports website, choosing from a shortlist of players selected by a panel that includes former player Paul Merson and Peter Beagrie as well as Mike Riley of the Professional Game Match Officials and Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters Federation.
