Wednesday Vs Ipswich: Team news

Last updated : 19 September 2008 By C. Morris

Sheffield Wednesday face Ipswich Town on Saturday looking to quickly put the midweek drubbing at Reading behind them.

The Owls look set to welcome Steve Watson back after he missed the game at Reading and it will be no surprise if he is included.

Tony McMahon will play the final game of his initial loan spell from Middlesbrough and Wednesday will hope to have Mark Beevers return in central defence.
The youngster has missed the last two games and will face a late test ahead of this one despite initial reports stating he would only be out for a few days at the most.

Striker Francis Jeffers is again likely to remain on the bench as the Owls adopt a cautious approach with regards to his bid to return to full match fitness.

Alex Bruce, who played for the Owls towards the end of their 2004/05 promotion season, is likely to return for the visitors having completed a three match ban.

Former Owl and more recently a Blade, Alan Quinn should also feature for Town after he scored in a 2-2 draw at Southampton in midweek.

Another ex-blade, recent signing Jon Stead is also expected to start upfront for Ipswich.

Ipswich have 7 points so far this season and perhaps surprisingly given last seasons form they have picked up more points on their travels so far than they have at Portman Road.

Wednesday were one of the few teams that lost at home to Ipswich last season, with Alan Quinn on the score-sheet, much to the annoyance of the home crowd.

The Owls will be looking to improve on a record that has seen them lose three of the last four to Town at Hillsborough dating back to 2003.
