The Toffees come over to Hillsborough for a third-round League Cup tie which could go either way after Wednesday's new-found confidence.
It is hoped that Whelan will be able to recover from a thigh strain, Dutch winger Esajas can overcome a back niggle while ex Everton star Watson will be fit after suffering with a knock to his hip.
Tommy Spurr and Peter Gilbert are both fit and Lee Bullen is also in contention for the cup clash.
Francis Jeffers will line up against his old club and Everton assistant boss Alan Irvine knows what sort of threat he will be to Everton after scoring his first Owls goal at the weekend.
He told the Liverpool Daily Post: "Franny is obviously a lad who had a fantastic start to his career. A lot of people say he went to Arsenal too early and then didn't play enough football. That may be true, I don't know. Maybe if Franny had stayed here he might not have kicked on as much as people had thought he would.
"I'd be worried about him if he gets a chance because I think he's a really good finisher and I'm sure that Franny would love to get the opportunity to score against us. His movement is good and our defenders will have to make sure they don't give him any opportunities."
