Sheffield Wednesday have today announced the signing of experienced Slovenian centre-half Dejan Kelhar on a short-term contract, subject to international clearance.
Kelhar has been training with the Owls this summer and has appeared in a few pre-season friendlies. Wednesday manager Stuart Gray has been impressed enough in what he has seen during this spell and the defender will now officially join the Owls ranks.
Kelhar, who has been capped 10 times by Slovenia, played 15 times for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia last season.
Centre-back had been a problem position for the Owls ahead of the new season with only Kamil Zayatte a regular in that position. However, the recruitment of the 30-year old Slovenian along with the recent acquisitions of Tom Lees from Leeds United and Glenn Loovens means that Wednesday now have a few options in that position.
