Sheffield Wednesday have moved to strengthen their squad further today by signing experienced goalkeeper Stephen Bywater on a one-year deal.
The former Derby goalkeeper initially joined the Owls for a loan spell last season before signing a permanent deal that saw him remain at Hillsborough for the remainder of last season.
Bywater was an influential part of Wednesday’s success last season, playing 32 league games as the club went on to achieve automatic promotion. His form under Dave Jones was particularly impressive, conceding just 3 goals in the final 8 games and keeping 5 clean sheets in the process.
In speaking to the Owls official website, www.swfc.co.uk Bywater stated that “This is the biggest club outside the Premier League and that is fact” and he also remarked that the final day of last season was the best atmosphere he has ever experienced in football.
Bywater faces a challenge for the number one spot at S6 with Chris Kirkland having also signed this summer to join Nicky Weaver and Arron Jameson.
