Owls Vs Town: Team news & preview

Sheffield Wednesday face Ipswich Town at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening looking to address an alarming slide that has seen them slip towards the Championship danger zone.

Jos Luhukay could bring Tom Lees back into the starting line-up for the first time in 2018 after he made a return from injury as a 2nd-half substitute in Saturday’s defeat at Bristol City.

Defenders Daniel Pudil and Frederico Venancio and striker Lucas Joao picked up knocks at Ashton Gate and their fitness will be assessed ahead of kick-off. Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri have returned to training but are still some way off a first team return. Midfielder Almen Abdi could be involved having come through recent academy games and a brief appearance at Bristol unscathed.

Ipswich expect to have winger Mustapha Carayol available following his recovery from illness and striker Joe Garner is also likely to feature. The Tractor Boys remain with longer-term injury absentees in the form of goalkeeper Dean Gerken, midfielder Tom Adeyemi and striker David McGoldrick.

Wednesday have slumped to 4 successive defeats in all competitions and have conceded 8 goals in their last 2 league games. Ipswich had their game postponed last weekend due to the adverse weather conditions and although they have been in indifferent form at home they are unbeaten in their last 4 away matches, winning 2 and drawing 2.

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Portman Road back in November when Atdhe Nuhiu rescued a point for the Owls with an injury time goal. Ipswich won 2-1 at Hillsborough last season and have not lost away to the Owls in their last 8 visits.
