Sheffield Wednesday have moved to cover their defensive injury crisis by signing young Cardiff City defender Adedeji Oshilaja on a loan deal that runs to mid-March.
Oshilaja is 20 years old and fairly inexperienced at this level. He has played in a couple of cup matches for Cardiff but his main experience of competitive football at senior level to date came in recent loan spell at League 2 side Newport County where he played 12 times. His favoured position is centre-back.
Wednesday have been forced into bringing in defensive cover due to a growing injury list. Club captain Anthony Gardner has been sidelined for months and recent centre-back pairing Glenn Loovens and Oguchi Onyewu are both likely to miss out this weekend. Summer signing Kamil Zayatte is facing an operation which could rule him out for the remainder of the season and experienced centre-back Martin Taylor is carying a knee injury leaving Miguel Llera as the only 100% fit centre-half going into this weekend.
In addition to the problems in the centre of the defence the Owls remain without first choice full-backs Lewis Buxton and Reda Johnson.
