Sheffield Wednesday striker Caolan Lavery has crossed the steel city divide by joining neighbours Sheffield United on a 3-year deal and he will now ply his trade in League One.
The Canadian born Northern Ireland international was out of contract at Hillsborough this summer but due to his age, the fact the he was offered a new deal by the Owls, Wednesday were entitled to compensation from any club looking to take him on and as such they will receive an undisclosed fee from the Blades.
23-year-old Lavery was seemingly making an impression a couple of years ago under former Wednesday manager Stuart Gray but his progress was curtailed by injury and he has not really had a look in at Hillsborough under Carlos Carvalhal. He spent much of last season on loan at League Two side Portsmouth.
