Sheffield Wednesday has had a player nominated in the Coca Cola Championship team of the week for the third time in succession.
The team is chosen each week by the Press Association and is shown on the official Football League and this week Luke Varney was included in the 11.
On loan striker Varney returned to the Owls starting line up for the home clash with Plymouth Argyle and managed to bag both Wednesday goals as they came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win. In truth it was a rather disjointed display by the Owls but once Varney had edged them in front they defended resolutely to hold out for another vital three points. The win took Alan Irvine’s record to four wins in five since taking the reigns at Hillsborough as the Owls continue to try and climb away from the relegation zone.
