Sheffield Wednesday have today announced that the deadline for the renewal of season tickets for the 2008/09 season has been extended.
Supporters who held season tickets during the 2007/08 season were originally given until Saturday 14th June to take advantage of the initial discount prices.
However, a statement released on the club's official website has stated that this deadline will now be extended until Saturday 12th June and that this decision has been taken following a number of requests from supporters combined with the economic downturn that has hit the country of late.
The statement says that season ticket sales have been strong to date but some cynics may suggest that the extension could be due to a slow uptake by fans that are disgruntled with the increase in prices while others may suggest that the possibility of an impending takeover has had an influence on these events.
The club have also announced that all 2008/09 season ticket holders will be able to purchase a ticket for the friendly against Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday the 2nd of August for the discount price of £5 Adults and just £1 for concessions.
