Sheffield Wednesday Chief Executive Kaven Walker has left the club by mutual consent.
The news broke with a statement released on the official club website, www.swfc.co.uk on Monday. The release stated that the club would like to "express on record our thanks to Mr Walker for his diligent efforts over past years" and was quick to point out that the move will in no way have any effect on the transfer policy for the forthcoming transfer window.
Nick Parker, who was announced as a new director of the club just two weeks ago is set to take on more responsibility with regards to the clubs day-to-day operations.
The news has come as something of a surprise as Mr Walker had recently taken a pro-active approach to regaining supporters trust and belief in the club by becoming more media friendly, introducing price incentives to bring fans back and offering to answer questions from the fans.
Despite this many supporters will not be disappointed by the news. Walker, who has been at the club for almost 9 years and became Chief Executive in 2005, has in recent times been a target in relation to the clubs off-field approach and an internet poll took place as recently as September calling for his head.
He was seen as a direct link to the troubled Dave Allen Chairmanship and was rumoured to be involved in the dismissal of popular ex-Owls boss Paul Sturrock. More faith in the board was lost towards the end of last season when the club announced steep price rises for many season tickets at a time when they could not be sure that the team would not be relegated to League One.
