The Owls boss has vowed to keep going at Hillsborough despite fans calling for his head and the ousting of the current board.
Joe Keith’s curling effort beat Kevin Pressman for the only goal of the game, as supporters let their frustration out in unison by calling for the sacking of Turner and Dave Allen to leave as chairman.
Turner believes that this season has not been good enough and he wants to play out the campaign before making wide-spread changes, despite bringing in the majority of the club’s players on show against United.
He said: “It was the same apathy as usual. I know it’s not good enough and our place in the league is not good enough and this season has not been good enough and I’m as frustrated and annoyed as the supporters.
“There are major problems here and I knew that when I came here and trying to turn this club around, although I can only try my best. The squad isn’t good enough to mount a challenge in the top six. I have done things through the season that will benefit the club in the next 18 months, detrimental to my position at the club.
“I am not going to walk away from this position, I am not going to pack in or resign because I know what people want, what I want and the chairman wants, Dave is as passionate as anyone on that terrace who wants the team to turn around.
“But it doesn’t matter who the manager or the chairman is at the club, if we don’t get rid of some of the problems we faced when I came in here, this club will never get to where it should be.”
