The former Owls boss, who was axed after Saturday’s home defeat to
Speaking for the first time since being shown the door, he said: “To be fair I have been supported by the chairman and I have no animosity toward him, or anyone else at the club.
“I want the club to do well, I have done something in my life (by managing Wednesday) which I thought I never would do but I was very proud to be the manager, I just want to wish everyone now every success.”
Turner follows in the same footsteps as Danny Wilson: a Hillsborough hero on the pitch and a ’91 cup winner to boot although neither could change the fortunes of the club off the pitch as manager.
But the ex-Owls custodian says that the club were making steps forward after years of mediocrity and despair.
He added: “If the crowds didn’t like what they were watching, they wouldn’t turn up, buy their season tickets or support the club in the numbers in which they do, for example over 19,000 turned up for the Bournemouth game but although results haven’t been great, I feel the club is moving in the right direction.”
Turner will return to football and most likely be like Paul Jewell by finding success elsewhere – although he is already looking forward to his next role.
He continued: “Unfortunately I have to wait for someone to fail somewhere else to possibly be given another chance but I am already looking forward to my next challenge. I don’t see this as the end of Chris Turner; I see it as it could be a brand new beginning somewhere else.”
Personally, I hope Chris does well in the future. It is always a shame to see a true Owl leave the club whatever the circumstances. He will come back and come back strong.
Thanks for the efforts Chris.
