Sheffield Wednesday's player of the year Marcus Tudgay has been named the PFA fans player of the year for the Coca Cola championship.

The award is given to the player that receives the most votes from fans at the PFA's official website, www.givemefootball.com and Marcus succeeds the former Sheffield United striker James Beattie after he won the award in 2008.

Tudgay has scored 14 goals this season, his most productive campaign to date and he won the PFA fans player of the month award for both February and March.

In addition to his goals Tudgay has performed consistently well through the season, putting in tireless displays and showing a commendable attitude when asked to play out of position.

Despite being the clubs top scorer he has been required to play wide left and wide right on numerous occasions to fit with the needs of the small squad and has done so with aplomb, often producing man-of-the-match performances from his various roles.

The 26-year-old striker joined the Owls in 2006 and has recently been offered an extension to his current contract which runs until the summer of next year.
