Swans Vs Owls: Team news

Sheffield Wednesday travel to the Liberty Stadium in Wales for the first time on Saturday and may for once be able to name an unchanged team should Brian Laws wish to do so.

The only fresh injury concern is over Jermaine Johnson who was substituted after getting a knock in last weekends draw against Preston but he is expected to be fit for selection.

Tony McMahon will be looking to pick up where he left-off following an impressive debut at right-back while striker Deon Burton will hope to back up his impressive support play this season by notching his first goal of the campaign.

Particular focus may be placed on the performance of Owls Captain Richard Wood who has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him with a move to Coventry as deadline day approaches.

Wade Small could be in contention for a place on the bench but the Owls will still be without the services of a number of injured players including Akpo Sodje, Frank Simek, Francis Jeffers and Richard Hinds.

Following promotion from League One last season, Swansea lost their first game in the Championship at Charlton but have since picked up two league victories and knocked Premier League Hull City out of the League Cup this week.

The home side tend to play a 4-3-3 formation with Jason Scotland spearheading the attack with two players in support from wide positions.

Spaniard Gorka Pintado staked his claim for a starting place with a goal against Hull in midweek but he may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Gary Monk is likely to start at centre-back. The defender spent a largely unsuccessful spell on loan at Hillsborough during the 2002/03 season in which the Owls were relegated to League One.

Wednesday have won the last four meetings between the two sides but there is no recent form to point to with regards to this fixture as the two sides have not met in the league for over twenty years.
