A goal from Glenn Whelan in stoppage time was not enough to get anything for Wednesday after another calamitous showing in the first 45 minutes when they were 2-0 down.
It has been well-documented that Sturrock is after a striker but now he needs some competition, especially after Lee Bullen was taken off injured in his first league start of the season.
He said: "When the players don't do as they are told, and they do not show commitment to the cause, I will not pick them.
"A striker was my priority - but I think we need players further back. We definitely need to get one or two in."
