Gerald Sibon and Shefki Kuqi were guilty of missing gilt-edged chances and Yorath blamed this for the defeat.
"I shouldn't really say this, but I have always had this saying that strikers get you the sack," Yorath said.
"We have dominated games this season but we have not scored goals. We've got people capable of scoring, but if they are not doing that then we cannot win games."
Questioned on his own position, Yorath said: "No, it's just a saying I have had for a long time. If strikers score goals then you are safe."
