The striker, who put in a man-of-the-match performance against Derby County on Saturday has only scored two league goals this season, and with fellow striker David Graham on a similar tally, goals for the front players are at a premium.
The club's leading scorer is Chris Brunt and defender Graham Coughlan has also weighed in with his fair share of goals - but Peacock knows more players have to come in to make the club successful.
He told Footymad: "It’s going good at the moment but I still personally think we need a new striker in because teams need goals. We need a scorer, someone who can be an out-and-out regular scorer like Macca (Steve MacLean), who we miss desperately."
So far this season Wednesday have struggled at times to get wins but despite being promoted last season through the back door, The Owls have not been outplayed for 90 minutes.
"No I don’t think so," agrees Peacock. "The best team we have played so far is Reading and they were the best team by a long, long way but apart from them I don’t think there’s many teams who have caused us any major problems. Even in the first half at Reading they didn’t cause that much damage but in the second we let it slip a little bit. But at home we have to make it a fortress – if we do that we will be fine."
Wednesday's injury list has been big all season with Coughlan, MacLean, Paul Heckingbottom, Drissa Diallo, JP McGovern, Drew Talbot and now David Lucas amongst the players who have spent time on the treatment table, but Peacock is not using that as an excuse for earlier performances this season.
He added: "On paper we have a good side when everyone’s fit. Nicky Weaver came in against Derby and did brilliantly and pulled off some world-class saves but we can’t use injuries as excuses because at the moment we are starting to get some good results and if you take the last four games (Derby. Reading, Norwich and Brighton) we would have definitely taken two wins and a draw beforehand so it just proves that we are turning things around."
