The former Hibernian midfielder scored his first goal against Blackpool at the weekend and his form is gradually getting better but he is now looking over his shoulder after Paul Sturrock brought in his former troop Adams from Plymouth.
Rocastle told Footymad: "There will probably be a battle between me and Steve. But to be honest I have to battle with the fact of motivation to play every week so I can be better than anyone else the gaffer brings in. You can compete with players all you like but I have to compete with myself first to make sure I’m the best player I can be."
The team are flying high at the moment but with the recent injury crisis at the club, many have thought that the season could crumble away although Rocastle thinks otherwise.
He said: "I think we can get promoted. There’s no shadow of doubt in my mind that we will go up and if it is not in the top two then it will be in the play-offs."
23-year-old Rocastle has never had a settled career, he has been everywhere so it seems with Barnsley, Lincoln, Gravesend, Kingstonian, Chelsea and Scotland so far but now is glad to have a long contract for a change.
He says: "I am staying at a hotel which is harder for me than being at home for instance and after training I have to take time out to look round different places so the sooner that gets settled the better - it’s good to be settled at a club though.
"I have been all round the country, especially playing in non-league but to know that I am here for a while is great. The club have been excellent with me so far and things are going well."
