Angulo, who is deemed surplus to requirements at San Mamés this season, has a cultured left foot and is currently at Middlewood in a bid to impress Laws.
But Laws wants to give the Basque 23-year-old a run out in a few reserve games to see whether he will fit into his plans to perhaps replace Chris Brunt.
He has played for the Spanish Under-21 team in the past although Laws may have other irons in the fire after being linked with Derby's left-winger Lee Holmes in the south-west press today after it was rumoured he was about to sign a loan deal with Swindon Town.
Laws though is keep to improve his squad and only has a week left before the transfer deadline shuts until January - and the Owls boss reveals he does have bids in for two players.
He told the BBC: "I have made an offer for a striker and I'm now waiting to hear back from his club to see if we've been successful. One thing is for sure - I think it will happen quickly.
"We still have an offer on the table for a foreign midfielder but since the bid, he has scored a bucket load of goals and become a full international."
Wednesday's search for a new defender though could hit the buffers after it seemed personal terms with Reading's Sam Sodje are a stumbling block in the player moving back north.
He once played for Sheffield FC before moving to non-league football and eventually he got a move into league football with Brentford.
