Sheffield Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje could yet again be facing a spell on the sidelines as his latest comeback has seemingly suffered another setback.
The talisman forward was expected to be on the bench for last weekends clash at Watford but was not named in the squad.
This, it has been revealed was due to a groin problem picked up in training and the injury could keep him out of the next game, at home to Swansea on Saturday and maybe even longer.
Sodje has been dogged by injuries during his two seasons at Hillsborough and had only recently come back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, making two brief substitute appearances in recent games. He has started only two fixtures this season and has made six appearances as a substitute.
The Owls have further issues concerning injury and fitness. Midfielder Darren Potter missed the draw with Watford due to a virus but is likely to return at the weekend. Tommy Spurr suffered a concussion at Vicarage Road but has since been given a clean bill of health.
More worrying is the shoulder injury suffered by Michael Gray and it is touch and go as to whether he will be able to play against Swansea. The timing of the injury is unfortunate With Wade Small having gone on loan to Blackpool last week it means that Brian Laws could look at eyeing up the loan market.
Another option would be to consider bringing youngster Rocky Lekaj into the squad. Luke Boden has made a number of substitute appearances to no great effect in recent weeks and Lekaj may deserve to be given a similar opportunity when taking into account his fine record for the reserve team this season.
