Sheffield Wednesday loan man Tom Soares signed off his initial spell at Hillsborough by helping the Owls secure a third successive victory with a 2-1 win over Peterborough on Saturday and has indicated that he would like to extend his spell at Hillsborough.
The former Crystal Palace man is set to return to parent club Stoke City before Wednesday’s next fixture at Scunthorpe on Wednesday evening but he is keen to continue playing and with his chances seemingly limited at the Premier League club at the moment a return to Hillsborough could be on the cards.
His loan spell got off to a slow start back in November when as a second half substitute in the defeat to West Brom he looked way of the pace and he didn’t get much more of an opportunity under Brian Laws. A much improved display in the Boxing Day draw against Newcastle earned him praise and he has been a regular in the side under Alan Irvine, bagging his first goal in the win at Blackpool last Tuesday.
Having established himself in the team it would certainly be a bonus if the Owls could engineer a deal to see Soares prolong his stay, especially with the continued absence of Tommy Miller through injury and the recent loss of Jermaine Johnson to a hamstring tear.
