Sheffield Wednesday have stated today that the local derby against Barnsley at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening is set to go ahead as planned.
Snowfall across the country has already caused disruption to the midweek fixture list with a number of matches scheduled for Tuesday already having been called off.
So far the majority of the postponements have been in the south of England and Wednesday are confident that their match will go ahead.
The undersoil heating should prevent any problems regarding the playing surface but with the possibility of further snowfall overnight the safety of supporters coming to the stadium also needs to be taken into account and with this in mind the situation will be assessed at 12 noon on Tuesday.
The Owls had problems with postponements at Hillsborough last season as a follow on from the 2007 summer floods but the pitch has been in much better condition this season.
