The American full-back left Highbury in the summer to join The Owls and has been a stand-out performer - and he has even kept Scottish international Maurice Ross out of the first-team picture.
Ross has now been farmed out on loan to Wolves because of Simek's performances but the youngster will miss next weekend's clash at Watford due to suspension.
His impressive showings and gutsy attitude have made him a crowd favourite at Hillsborough and the Missouri-born defender is happy with how things have worked out for him since the move north.
He told Footymad: "I have settled in here really well and I am really enjoying Sheffield, I love the club and I just hope things continue for me. I’m really happy, Paul Sturrock has stuck by me and hopefully I can continue to keep my place.
"You have to remember that Lee Bullen can play right-back as well so there is always competition but I am just looking to play every game and help Wednesday up the table."
"This is a massive step up for me though," he admits. "The difference between this year and last year for me is night and day. When I was with Arsenal, we played one reserve game a week where we just got the ball and passed it around for 90 minutes but here you are fighting competitively all the time to win league points but that’s the way I like it and I love it.
"I like Sheffield. I lived in London which is a huge city but I do think I prefer Sheffield because it is smaller and more personal and I am really enjoying myself right now."
