The American defender knows that performances have been good of late and that must continue against Preston, who are playing to cement their play-off position.
Paul Sturrock will pick a similar team to that which drew last week against QPR tomorrow while North End are without top scorer David Nugent, who has a foot injury.
But Simek is adamant that The Owls will not be worried about the visitors' lofty position as they chase survival.
"A win is vital," Simek told Footymad. "We played well against them at their place and came home with a draw so hopefully we can get the three points against them because we desperately need them. We can't worry about other teams at the moment because we have to think about ourselves. We don't care who is winning and losing around the country – we just have to do our own job."
"We are two points clear of Millwall with eight games left so it's tight down there, we know that but we have to go into every game knowing that we can get the three points.
"The mood is good. After the Southampton game I think we were a bit low but the performances against Cardiff and QPR has lifted us."
