So overall an improvement on last season and given the lack of optimism at the start of the campaign the club can be reasonably satisfied with what they have achieved given the constraints that they work under.

The new regime have brought a fresh air of understandably cautious optimism to the club and given that attendances during the beginning of the season were somewhat down on last season the overall slight improvement in this area is encouraging for the future.

The defensive home record is something to be proud of as it was easily the best in the division but the fact that the club conceded more goals in away games than anyone else obviously needs to be addressed s does the fact that total goals scored were less than the relegation threatened campaign of 2007/08.

This would suggest that the midfield is the area that needs to be addressed the most. A rugged tough tackling defensive midfielder would provide extra support to the back four in away games. The fact that our most creative player in terms of setting up goals spent a significant spell on the sidelines through injury also highlights that providing consistent scoring opportunities for the strikers is something to be addressed.
