Carvalhal reacted angrily after Owls defender Vincent Sasso was shown a straight red card in the 48th minute for his tackle on Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane and was banished from the dugout by referee Lee Probert.
"Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has been charged following the game against Aston Villa on Saturday (March 11, 2017)," read a statement on the FA's official website
"It is alleged that in or around the 48th minute of the fixture, his behaviour amounted to improper conduct, contrary to FA Rule E3.
"He has until 6pm on March 16, 2017 to respond to the charge."
Wednesday went down 2-0 at Villa Park and after winning only one of their last five games in the Sky Bet Championship, their advantage over seventh-placed Fulham has been cut to two points
