Cardiff forward joins Owls
Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed the signing of Scotland international Callum Paterson. The 25-year old makes the move to Hillsborough having completed a permanent transfer from Cardiff City.
The transfer fee and length of contract have not been officially disclosed but it has been no secret that the Owls have been chasing Paterson in recent weeks and Wednesday fans will be happy to see another attacking option added to their ranks.
Paterson started his career at Hearts and played for some time as a right-back. He earned a move to Cardiff City in 2017 and began to establish himself as a more attacking player under Neil Warnock, developing into a forward for the Welsh club.
The 2017-18 season was a successful one for player and club as Cardiff gained promotion to the Premier League with Paterson finishing the campaign as top scorer. He has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Cardiff team since Neil Harris became manager but he certainly has proven ability at this level which will be of benefit to Garry Monk’s team.
