Wednesday Vs Reading: Team news & preview
Having officially secured their Championship safety last weekend Sheffield Wednesday take on Reading at Hillsborough on Saturday with the aim of finishing the season well in order to take some momentum and renewed belief into the next campaign.
The Owls won 1-0 at Hull last weekend and Jos Luhukay could go with the same side as Jack Hunt has recovered from a knock to the nether regions and there are no new injury concerns. With Jordan Rhodes netting the winner on his return to the team the striker could now get a run in the side in order to prove his worth and raise his confidence but Wednesday do once again have option in that position as Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao are bot back in contention having missed out last weekend. Defender Daniel Pudil could also return to the team.
Reading travel without experienced defenders Paul McShane and Tommy Elphick who have been out for a few weeks with respective injuries. Former Aston Villa man Leandro Bacuna will miss out due to suspension but experienced striker Yann Kermorgant will be looking for a return to the starting 11 having scored as a 2nd half substitute in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland last time out.
Wednesday have won 4 of their last 6 matches but only one of those wins has come at Hillsborough and they were beaten by Fulham in their last game on their own turf. Reading have taken 7 points from their last 5 matches but have lost 4 in a row on their travels and are still not mathematically out of the relegation scrap.
The Royals won on their last league visit to the Owls, coming away with a 2-0 win last March but since then they played out a drab 0-0 draw at home to Wednesday in November and were comfortably 3-1 at Hillsborough in the F.A. Cup in January.
