Rovers Vs Wednesday: Team news

Sheffield Wednesday make the short trip to Doncaster on Saturday and will be attempting to maintain a record which has never seen them lose a competitive game at Doncaster.

The Owls will be hoping to follow their historic Sheffield derby win with a much better display than the one after their steel city victory at Hillsborough earlier in the season when they travelled to local rivals Barnsley and produced a lacklustre display that resulted in a 2-1 defeat.

It is more than likely that the Owls will name an unchanged line up from the one which won at Bramall Lane last weekend with no new injuries or suspensions to concern them. Francis Jeffers continues to serve a ban and Akpo Sodje is not yet ready to make a return while Steve Watson is expected to take a place on the bench once again.

The home side may also be able to name an unchanged 11 following victory over Blackpool last Saturday although defender Matthew Mills may face a late fitness test. Doncaster may have new signing Dean Shiels available to make his debut but the attacking player also faces a late test on an ankle injury.

James Hayter and Steve Brooker are not expected to be fit enough to return to action at this stage.

Wednesday make the trip buoyed by only their third away win of the season last weekend and will be looking to find some consistency having won two, lost two and drawn two of their last six games.

Doncaster are one of the form sides in the Coca-Cola Championship at the moment and will fancy their chances of recording a first ever competitive home win over the Owls. They are unbeaten in eight league games, a run which includes victories over Burnley and Sheffield United with their last league defeat coming against leaders Wolves.
Wednesday won the first encounter between the two sides this season by a goal to nil at Hillsborough in November but were fortunate that Rovers could not turn their posession into goals in the second half.
