Reserves held at Hull

The two new players, who made impressive debuts against Bristol City on Saturday, both played the full 90 minutes against The Tigers in a team which included former Bolton duo of Henrik Pedersen and Jay Jay Okocha.

The game was put on as a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hull and a relatively young Owls backline were impressive in the 0-0 draw.

Esajas and Sodje are both hoping their performances in training and in the game will be good enough for them to make their first starts for their new clubs following their cameo appearances from the bench at the weekend.

Wade Small is hoping to be part of Wednesday's squad who travel to Preston in two weeks time although he did not take part in yesterday's game.

The winger has been struggling with a hamstring injury and his loss has been disappointing after an excellent start to the season where the former MK Dons player scored two goals in three games.

Francis Jeffers also missed the Hull game and he is expected to rejoin Small in the squad for the Deepdale clash.

Meanwhile, The Owls' League Cup clash with Everton will take place on Wednesday September 26 with match tickets available at £15.
