The former Wolves striker will be the first to admit he did not achieve the high standards expected of him last season and wanted to put it right this term.
But with the arrival of Steve MacLean and Lee Peacock at Hillsborough and the emergence of Jon Shaw and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu, it seems as if Proudlock has slipped down the pecking order.
Proudlock is a confidence player and every time he has been introduced this season, he has looked quick and up for it, unlike some times last season.
He notched three goals in pre-season games for The Owls and looked impressive although Chris Turner's first-choice pair was always going to be MacLean and Peacock.
But many think that Turner has put him on the market basically give the player the kick up the backside he so desperately needed from last season - only time will tell as fellow transfer listed star Paul Smith has been told that he is a vital member of the squad after a few decent performances.
Proudlock played well in the reserves last night as well by scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 win over Wigan, Shaw got the other two.
Many think the forward is a better winger than striker, and some of the crosses he has put in this season have been very dangerous - he could get his chance there on Saturday depending on Chris Marsden's availability.
