Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County have agreed on greatly reduced ticket prices for their forthcoming Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round tie at Hillsborough. Tickets for the match taking place on Wednesday September 1st at 7.45pm are available in advance of the game at a cost of just £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions, with just the South Stand opening initially for home fans though other areas of the ground will be used should there be sufficient demand. Prices will rise to £10 and £5 respectively on the day of the match.
For fans of clubs relegated from the Championship the prospect of competing in the Football League Trophy is not high on their list of priorities and matches to look forward to but as Southampton showed last season it can lead to an enjoyable day out at Wembley.
The competition is regarded by some as an unwanted distraction from league events but success often breeds further success and a good cup run can maintain momentum in the same way that a defeat in any competition can be a blow to confidence.
The prices offer excellent value for individuals of all ages and families to come and watch the Owls in a competitive game and the match may be seen by the club as an opportunity to give some of the fringe players and younger squad members to gain some experience, prove their worth and stake a claim for a regular place in the team.
