The Nigerian playmaker’s future is up in the air with the Reebok Stadium club and one of the truly great Premiership entertainers could be on his way at the end of the season.
But with the not-so-mighty Trotters being lined up as one of Wednesday’s pre-season opponents, Owls fans will be waiting with baited breath to hopefully see a player who is worth the admission fee alone.
With no disrespect to the League Cup finalists, it is a sad day when Wednesday are looking forward to a visit from Bolton though!
But with some shocking players pulling on the blue and white in the last five years, Owls supporters will hope to see Okocha’s wizardry on July 31.
Another pre-season ‘highlight’ will be the visit of Mr Potato Head’s Birmingham City three days previous to the Bolton game.
Steve Bruce has done a fine job at St Andrew’s and could be preparing for a European assault when his team come to Hillsborough on July 28.
In Wednesday’s other friendlies, they will face Barrow away on July 20, York City at Bootham Crescent on July 24 and another Premiership team on August 3.
The reserves wil face away trips to Halifax Town on July 27 and Stocksbridge Park Steels on August 9.
All this though comes after the players get a rigorous wake-up call in a tournament in Ibiza with Preston and Watford,hopefully the players will concentrate more on their fitness than the bars of San Antonio!
