The former Bristol City striker has scored five goals this season - a record of around one goal every three games he has started and he knows that his strike record could be better.
On MacLean's loss, he told Footymad: "It puts pressure on me and all the strikers and midfielders to be honest as we all have our duty to chip in with goals. Losing Macca is a massive blow as he has been the main goal scorer this season but hopefully we can all pitch in from now until the end of the season and go up.
"I don’t personally feel it’s a burden on my shoulders, as long as I am playing I am happy and to stay in the team I have to work hard. Goals are a massive part of my game so if I keep creating chances for others and getting some myself I’ll be delighted.
"The biggest thing though obviously is the results and promotion is the number one goal. Whether I am getting goals or someone else is, I don’t care – as long as we are scoring and winning."
He also believes that Wednesday are not the finished article yet and still have more to offer, and if the Wednesday players work as hard as they can then can improve dramatically.
He says: "No-one is ever going to be perfect so we have just got to listen to the coaches and the manager so we can work hard. We have to out work teams and out battle teams and then earn the right to play. We have the ability, Whelan for example is a different class but we all have to earn the right to play.
"We can all improve, the strikers for instance can get more goals, the defenders concede less and the midfielders have to win their own personal battles."
Meanwhile, Drew Talbot has signed a new deal which will keep him at Hillsborough until 2007.
The young striker has scored three goals from the bench this season and looks like he is going to be a decent player for Wednesday in the future.
