Having seen Sheffield Wednesday given a 28-day adjournment in respect of outstanding tax payments the clubs’ chief executive Nick Parker expressed his relief and anger at the situation surrounding the Hillsborough outfit.
Parker told Sky Sports News that “This club should not be where it is today – the reason that I am angry is because there are people out there who go to the media when they should not. There are people out there who say they have money when they do not.”
He went on to reiterate that prospective buyers would not get a better deal by waiting for the club to go into administration and stated that there was hope in the fact that there are people of influence who know how important the club is to the supporters and the community and that now is the time for them to step forward and do things properly for the sake of the football club.
The courts granted Sheffield Wednesday an extra four weeks with regards to today’s hearing in the belief that a takeover deal could be completed in that time.
