Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson returned to international action this weekend as Jamaica secured a victory over group favourites Mexico in their World Cup 2010 qualifying encounter.
Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller scored the only goal of the game in the first half and Johnson came on a substitute for the final ten minutes.
The Reggae Boys still face an uphill task to qualify for the finals as they currently lie third in their group and need to finish in the top two to reach the final qualifying stage. They are five points behind both Mexico and Honduras with two games remaining and so need to beat Honduras at home in midweek to keep their hopes alive.
Wednesday will be hoping that JJ comes through that encounter unscathed and makes a prompt return to England ahead of the Sheffield derby next Sunday. His first half performance in last seasons Hillsborough derby was pivotal in helping the Owls to a 2-0 victory over their city rivals.
