Owls Vs Wolves: Team news

Sheffield Wednesday welcome table-topping Wolves to Hillsborough on Saturday as they look to bounce back from the harsh midweek reversal to Reading.

Wednesday will be forced to make at least one change to the eleven that started against Reading as on-loan midfielder Darren Potter is ineligible to play against his parent club. James O'Connor is likely to replace him in the middle of the park alongside the in-form Sean McAllister.

Michael Gray is set to play against his former club and Leon Clarke will be eager to impress against the club who sold him to Wednesday. Clarke and fellow striker Marcus Tudgay will have to be on their game as fans favourite Akpo Sodje is widely expected to take a place on the substitutes bench after a lengthy injury lay off.

Defenders Frankie Simek and Richard Hinds were rested in midweek and Brian Laws must decide whether to stick with the back four that looked open at times albeit against a strong Reading attack.

The visitors will be without Karl Henry in midfield due to suspension. They also have a number of fitness worries including Matt Jarvis, David Jones and Dave Edwards but manager Mick McCarthy is hoping that they will all be passed fit.

The Wednesday defence will have to be on top form to keep 22-goal front man Sylvan Ebanks-Blake quiet and he could be partnered up front by Chris Iwelumo. The pair grabbed three goals between them as Wolves ran out 4-1 winners against the Owls at Molineux in August

Wolves record at Hillsborough is impressive. They have not lost on their last thirteen visits to S6 dating back to 1964. To make the Owls task more daunting still, the visitors boast 9 league wins on their travels this season, more than any other club in the Coca Cola Championship.
