Sheffield Wednesday welcome bottom of the table Nottingham Forest to Hillsborough tonight intent on backing up their fine win at Charlton with another three points.
Without meaning to be to disrespectful to the visitors this is a game that the Owls should be looking to take advantage of but it is an all too familiar story for Wednesday fans that this isn't always the case.
In the recent past the Owls have struggled in many games they would have been expected to win at Hillsborough. Even during the promotion season of 2004/05 Wednesday dropped home points to lowly Bradford and Torquay and last season they lost to Colchester, Leicester and Scunthorpe, all of whom were relegated. With this in mind it would be unwise to be too confident or complacent ahead of tonight's fixture.
On the team news front the victory at the Valley on Saturday may have come at a cost. Goal scorer Wade Small faces a late test on a tight hamstring and Jermaine Johnson and Steve Watson are also struggling.
Should any of these players fail to prove their fitness the likes of Etienne Esajas and Jimmy Smith will be in contention to play in midfield areas while up front Francis Jeffers could make his first start of the season although Deon Burton is also an option for Brian Laws to consider as he faces the team he spent much of his playing career with.
Youngster Mark Beevers is returning to fitness but may have to wait for his chance to return to the side. Other than the disastrous display at Reading the defence has performed well in his absence, keeping their first two clean sheets of the season in the four games that he has missed.
The visitors will be without the services of Wales international striker Rob Earnshaw due to a hamstring problem and defender Wes Morgan is also likely to be sidelined through injury.
Teenager Matt Thornhill looks set to return in midfield following a ban and former Sheffield United loan winger Lee Martin should also be in the forest team.
Young striker Joe Garner, signed from Carlisle in the summer in a £1M+ deal is yet to play this season through injury and so veteran striker Andrew Cole may start in attack.
Forest have lost all four of their away games in the Championship so far and have conceded 11 goals in the process.
The sides have not met since 2002 with both sides winning two of the past four meetings at Hillsborough in league and cup.
