Wednesday make deadline day move for Berahino
Sheffield Wednesday’s first move of transfer deadline day has been completed with the signing of striker Saido Berahano.
The 28-year-old forward moves to Hillsborough on a permanent deal after the Owls struck a deal with his former club, Zulte Waregem in Belgium.
Berahino rose to prominence as a goal scorer for West Bromwich Albion, scoring over 20 Premier League goals for the Baggies in three seasons between 2013 and 2016. In the January transfer window of 2017 he made a big money move to Stoke City but a loss of form and some personal issues meant that his time at Stoke was largely disappointing and he moved to Belgium in 2019.
The former England under-21 international has received criticism for a questionable attitude at times during his career but Owls boss Darren Moore will know Berahino, having worked as a development coach at West Brom during Berhaino’s early career.
