Sheffield Wednesday have made their second signing of the January transfer window by signing Charlton Athletic defender Morgan Fox.
23-year-old Fox was a target of the Owls in the summer transfer window but they failed to complete a move before deadline day. It has been reported that he has now signed a 3-and-a-half-year deal at Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £700,000.
Fox made over 100 appearances for Charlton and has represented Wales at under-21 international level. He is cup-tied and will therefore not be available for Sunday's F.A. Cup match at Middlesbrough but will provide competition for Daniel Pudil at left-back and allow Adam Reach to focus more on his preferred wide-left midfield position.
The signing does raise further question marks over the summer signing of Urby Emanuelson. Left-sided full-back/midfielder Emanuelson signed on a free-transfer in September and arrived with a great deal of top level experience. He remarked at the time that he had signed a lucrative contract with the owls but he is yet to have a look in with the first team.
